2 Samuel 11:11–13.

2 Samuel 11:11–13.

Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in booths, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field. Shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.” 12 Then David said to Uriah, “Remain here today also, and tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next. 13 And David invited him, and he ate in his presence and drank, so that he made him drunk. And in the evening he went out to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house.

Would you sit back and enjoy the indulgences of this world when our friends, brothers, and sisters are fighting in a battle? Of course not. And that is what Uriah did not do. He did not listen to David to sleep with his wife but instead remained in Jerusalem and did not go into his house. The thought to sleep with his wife was not on his mind. He knew he had a calling. He had one job and didn't let the desires of the flesh to interfere with that. That is convicting. He has pressure from others to fall into temptation when he was on the battle field. My whole team is going on that battle field to win souls for Christ. We will get tempted on out ten days home and also on the field. It can happen with our phones or things that can stumble us. We are to flee from temptation and lusts of the flesh. God will allow is to withstand the test. It is sad because even though Uriah did not fall into temptation, he died. That could happen to us also. We need to be aware of every circumstance that comes our way. God will prepare us for what is to come. We need to be rooted in the word of God so that we will not be swayed by the things of this world.

Application: I am going to remain here in Guat because that is my Jerusalem and not listen to music the rest of my time here because it can be a distraction.
